Give Her A Feather - She's A Cherokee
That's the name of my favorite playlist. Its songs focus on indians (feathers, not dots of course). The playlist is made up of three songs so far:
1) "Indian Reservation" by Paul Revere and the Raiders
2) "Half-Breed" by Cher
3) "Your Squaw Is On The Warpath Tonight" by Loretta Lynn
I Beg You:
suggest more songs for this outrageously entertaining collection. PLEASE!
There are no criteria...the songs don't even have to be about indians. Yes they do, though. No. Yes.
Hey, I watched most of "Into the West." Plus, yours truly is no less than 1/16 cherokee. So I think I know a thing or two about playlists dedicated to indians.
We're going to need a bigger boat, etc.
Oh and ALSO:
Isla Fisher.
The crazy girl from Wedding Crashers
Naomi Watt's replacement in I Heart Huckabees (i.e. "All that and brains too")
and
Engaged to Ali G.
Now that's trivia!!

Hey Becky,
Bet you didn't know that I read your blog. Well I do. Most of the time, I'm in my underwear when I do it, like now for instance. I think that is a terrific name, not to mention a great idea, for a playlist. Here are a few songs that you can add to it, if you like:
"Poccahontas" - Neil Young
"Cortez the Killer" - also Neil Young
I guess old Neil went through an Indian phase (not unilke a certain lady i know...)
Simon and Garfunkle also do a version of "El Condor Pasa", which is a traditional Inca song.
So stick those on there and enjoy!
-Pat Young
My recommendations that I'm not really recommending:
Black Hawk War, or, How to Demolish and Entire Civilization and Still Feel Good About Yourself in the Morning, or We Apologize for the Inconvenience But You’re Going To Have To Leave Now, or, “I Have Fought the Big Knives” by Sufjan Stevens (not really any words, but a good instrumental. I know….it’s a ridiculously long title.)
Sleeping Bear, Sault Saint Marie by Sufjan Stevens (does mention an Indian (Native American) in the title?)
The Bleeding Heart Show by The New Pornographers (a good song on my favorite album of all times. This is a stretch. Don’t put it on the playlist)
The Slow Descent Into Alcoholism by The New Pornographers (ummm…it’s probably really bad that I put this on here, but, uhhhh….yeah. Stereotypes at their best—meaning worst)
That's all I got off the top of my head. My apologies for all crap songs.
S-tizzle
I too, am a secret Becky-blog-reader; although, unlike Pat, I am sometimes dressed and sometimes in my PJs when I do.
Anyway, suggestions include, "I'm an Indian Too" from Annie Get Your Gun. It's not at all offensive and should get you in the mood for some Indian-lovin. :)
Love
Carly Jacobson
hey you
the entire album "bitter tears" by johnny cash is all about how the good ol' U S of A screwed the indians hard
peace
