The Date-Rape Prevention Video They'll Show To Every Incoming Barnard Freshman For Years And Years

I was in that video, the one about date-rape. We filmed a party outside at 1pm. I wanted to wear sunglasses because of the sun, but instead they had me wear someone else's shirt when I woke up in a strange bed and held my head in my hands going, "what have I done?"

Also, when my friend Mike and I came out of the apple store yesterday, some guys from some AOL show asked us if they could film us for the pilot they're airing online in august. HOLY SHIT, I'M FAMOUS.

And lastly, for the past two nights, I haven't remembered the forty minutes before falling asleep. That's okay, right? Maybe I should watch that barnard video.

And You Want To Travel With Her, And You Want To Travel Blind

RE: katherine's comment- I'm going to go out on a limb and say that pineapple upside-down cake is EVERYONE'S favorite kind of cake. It has to be! It's delicious! Seriously!

cds I've borrowed from catsitting and put onto my computer (thanks simon the cat):
1) all five discs of Velvet Underground's "Peel Slowly and See"
2) Leonard Cohen "Songs"
3) Radiohead "Pablo Honey"
4) Elvis Presley "Love Songs"
5) Johnny Cash "Best of Johnny Cash"
6) Elvis Costello "My Aim Is True"
7) Bruce Springsteen "Greatest Hits"
8) The Cars "The Cars"
9) all this Joy Division that I didn't realize I wanted until right now

Krotov's at Bonnaroo right now. So is Tess. They're about to see Cat Power. Apparently she does a cover of a Smoosh song called "Rad," which is COOL because Smoosh is great. And Smoosh's combined age is 24.

I just ordered four packs of iron-on letters from joann's.com. I plan on monogramming a lot more of my clothes. So far I've monogrammed two shirts. I plan on making it at least five. Maybe do some jackets, too. If anyone who doesn't have R or A in his/her monogram wants some shirts monogrammed, send them over to me and I can make it happen. I'll have literally thousands of leftover letters.

Going to Junek's lakehouse tomorrow! BLAUGH!

I Made A Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALISON!

and
I just bought pineapple upside-down cake ingredients and I plan to make a pineapple upside-down cake in a few minutes.

and
second day of work: beautiful. It's the best job of my life [except that I don't get paid and I'm not really learning how to edit movies yet].

you're not necessarily a man if you do.

Third Of Three

Amy Sedaris.
Paul Dinello.
Me.

Not only did I go to the apple store in soho to hear some guy interview Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello,
Not only did I sit thirty feet away from said Sedaris and Dinello,
Not only did they make me laugh,
and Not only did they show three clips from Strangers with Candy: The Movie,

But also, I met Amy Sedaris.

So I got that going for me, which is nice. She was hyperer than that hyper-hypo kid Mike Myers used to play on snl. She was as short as me! She was wearing a red sweatshirt like me! But when I waited so patiently to say hello to her, I don't think she liked me very much. Maybe she didn't know I started the Strangers With Candy facebook group for columbia. Maybe she didn't notice that I WASN'T one of the assholes who laughed extra-loud so she'd know when something was soooo funny. Maybe she sensed Paul Dinello's sadness that no one really wanted to meet him after a while.

Look, I'll never know. And neither will you.
So let's just forget about all of this, except for the fact that we met. And our meeting was fate.

I've met Amy Sedaris.

Second Of Three

Becky's First Day of Real Office Work!
(as an intern at Lost Planet)

Pretty much all I did was answer the door phone when someone needed to get into the building.
(phone - ring
me - "Lost Planet?"
voice - blah blah
me - "come on up"
me - press the button that opens the door
me - salutes myself in mirror)

Also the lunch orders got screwed up, so that was pretty rough. I had to pull out the old spanish and do a little talky-talky with one of the delivery guys. It was horrifying.

Then my weekend started early when I went to Heights Happy Hour with Carly and Addison at 4:30.
Then three margaritas.
Then two glasses of franzia.
Then so much, so much barf.

-this was Wednesday-

First Of Three

Cally Robertson: I think they're carding.

Rififi guy: nods

Me: well, then I guess this is the only thing we can do.
(takes two steps to the right and stands one respectful foot away from Michael Showalter on sidewalk outside of Rififi)
ahem hem hi. I'm so sorry to interrupt (Zak Orth looks all pissy as I talk, since I interrupted their practice), but uh, my friend and I are HUGE fans and we're here to see your show - which we're VERY excited about - but the thing is, uh, we don't have ID because we're only 20 so we were wondering if there's any chance you could help us...

Michael Showalter: (patronizing) yeah...sorrrrrry...that guy over there's like 40 and he can't get in either.

Me: oh well, thanks a lot for your help-

Michael Showalter: (even more patronizing) yeaaaaahhhhhh, sorrrrrrrryyyy...(grimaces)

"Help Me, Fionnbharr! I'm Trapped In A Well," Shrieked Rórdán

Aren't those weird names? I found them on a baby name website. They're both irish.
Rórdán comes from a name that means "little poet king."

There's some kid in my building who has 23,000 songs on his iTunes. And I can listen to all 23,000 of them. Thanks, shared networks! This guy has so many albums by the Books. Probably more than 23,000. No, no. That wouldn't be possible.

I went to the bookstore yesterday and found a swim cap RIGHT BEFORE I saw Carly's comment - wyrd. Which means "fate," as you might say it in these modern times. What was the other one? I can't remember. It thunderstormed last night!

I'm worried this franzia is running out faster than it should. Maybe I shouldn't drink a liter of it per day. But then where's the fun in not drinking a liter of franzia per day? I just don't get it.

And one last thing: remember that episode of "Arrested Development" where Lucille wants Buster to hang out with his brothers and sister more? And when she's on the phone with Michael about it, Buster is chasing a bird around the dining room and breaking the chandelier? There's this part where he says, "it walked on my pillow!"
I THINK THAT'S FUNNY!
